Hi,

Going to drain and try some new oil in the gearbox to see if that finds the elusive fourth gear, as well as check the kickdown cable.
Just use normal ATF or is there a weight specific, bear in mind I live in Ireland....

Dextron 3 is what I use.
I think you have a slipping band. My 93 LWB 4.2 never gets to 3500 to shift. I was thinking about that today and I don't think my engine ever gets to 3500 not even when I'm going 80mph+.

I run Mobil1 synthetic personally...... My parents use the same as okie!!

I've just checked it on idle and there appeared to be none, yet when the engine's off...there's some and it's nice and clean. The mechanic did let some out aaages ago, methinks he's taken out too much!
