My '95 Disco is making weird noises at low speeds. It sounds like a creaking/groaning noise. It sounds like a rusty swingset.....
Any idea what this could be? It sounds like is it coming from the front of the vehicle, and comes and goes.

Could be a sticky piston (brake caliper), dried out bearings or your typical grinding diff. I had the same problem with my 95 DI rear diff and I brought it to Cityside Garage and Alan told me some Rover diffs make more noise than others. Could also be the bearings in the diffs.

Good luck.

Look around the shock mounts and the bushings. Are they rusty? Bounce the car.
