I ordered brake parts this morning for my 1972 Series III 88". The salesman told me I needed the Castrol brake fluid, or the rubber parts would be damaged. I later called back and added an item to the order and talked to a different salesman. He said I could run the newer DOT 4 brake fluid without any problems. I hope he is right because I recently rebuilt the clutch master and slave and used the DOT 4 because they told me it would work without problems.

I sure hope you are right since that was what I use in my clutch rebuild. I guess the guys at Atlantic British need to get their act together. One of them convinced me to buy two bottles of the Castrol. Thanks for your help.

Dot 3 or 4 is fine in these trucks ( 4has a higher temperature rating)
Dot 5 is a different fluid and can’t be mixed with 3 or 4
Sounds like an “up sell” to me😉

I'm going with DOT 5 in most of my stuff, it doesn't absorb moisture, seems to wear better etc. costs more! DO NOT USE DOT 3........ ask me how I know!, you'll only do that once!
