Our daughter would like to buy a DII. We had a 99' DII that we sold last year. What's the best year for the DII's? I thought I read somewhere the 04's had problems with the engines.

D21999-2002 head gaskets will have to be done sooner or later.
2003-2004 head gaskets will have to be done sooner or later, oil pump issues or slip liner issues.

Get an LR3 V8 2005-2009 it's more reliable and more power.

I'm going to vote for an 04 SE. The 03's had oil pump issues that necessitated LR replacing the motors. Keep in mind these trucks are 11 years old so seals/gaskets/plugs/wires etc need some attention. I love my 04 SE but it has been/will be a lot of work.
