Whining sound from Engine compartment

I have a 2008 Range Rover HSE Sport. Recently I have noticed a whing sound from the engine compartment which sounds like it is coming from an accessory such as the alternator, fan, power steering etc. Has anyone had this experience and can anyo one offer any input as to cause. MegAng
