Due to large stone chip, had to get the winshield replaced on an '07 LR3 with the heated windshield defroster option back in September.

Weather just started to turn and had to use the defroster the other day.

Strange, only the drivers side cleared, split exactly down the center, the passenger side did not clear.

The glass co is going to check it this weekend.

Does anyone know how this works? does it sound like a wiring to the windshield issue or wire inside the glass.

Here's a pic.

Thanks in advance,
Ray

two circuits, two fuses

There are two circuits that power the electric windscreen.

I would say only one circuit is operational, the other not.

30 amp fuse 15E powers the right hand side and 30 amp fuse 18E powers the left hand side.

These fuses are found in the engine compartment fuse box and have little windscreen icons with a resistance WW on each icon.

Since one side operates OK, you can almost assume the relay is OK as it is common to both sides.

If both fuses are good, it is possible that the installers did not know there were two circuits and only connected up one of the windscreen heating tabs.

Also, the circuits ground to the body - that is relay, fuse, windscreen tab, and then ground. Perhaps one of the grounds is not connected but that is unlikely.

Check the fuses, if they're good, make sure the element is hooked up, remove the interior RH A-pillar, 2 ribbon single spade terminals that somewhat wrap around the drain tube.
