Put a cam in your 4.2 and you'll be amazed at how powerful they are.

At 157K, I can just about guarantee you that your camshaft has more in common with a pushrod than a camshaft.

While I think highly of Chris and his company, I think he paints a poor picture on his website and simplifies things that deserve more discussion and focuses on topics I consider to be unimportant.

It is highly unlikely your block is cracked. I have yet to encounter one on a distributor engine and I have seen a LOT of them (contrary to popular belief, I do not own every one ever made).

The 230 is a fantastic cam. I have not have to trim the valve guides, but Mark says it really does happen sometimes.

I love the 230. I have one in two of my trucks right now-both 4.2s.

What we're most likely dealing with here is the horrible wear on the cam destroying performance.

Long live the 4.2 indeed!!!
