I suppose its possible to bypass the control unit; but i think the easy fix would be to just buy a replacement control unit. That way you dont have worry about accidentally messing up your wiring harness under your cubby box. Its just plug and play if you replace it with a working unit.

Just my two-cents.

You could go straight to rewiring it but I'd check a few things first. If you haven't swap the switch with one from a window that's working correctly to tell if it's the switch. If it still won't work check the connections at the switch, module and window motor to determine for certain if the module is bad. You can operate the window without the module. Pull up the schematic that's for your PW system. Locate both the front switches, module and window motors. Wire your drivers side just like the passenger. It will take some rearranging at the switch and bypassing the mod. I'd try releasing connectors from the plugs if possible and reinstalling them in their new locations instead of cutting the harness. If wires are too short to reach where you want they sell plugs and connectors at the parts houses for you to make a factory looking extensions or solder and insulate with good shrink tubing. Remember not to leave a stray wire floating around waiting to short out the circut.
