power steering pump noise

i just finished doing the head gaskets on my 99 disco 2 and it sat in the shed for 3 months before i did the gaskets never had any noise before i parked it but now i have it going again the power steering pump screems and i tried bleeding the air out didnt do any thing. but if i let it sit for like 2-3 days with out being driven and i can drive about 3-4 miles and it works like a champ almost no noise and after that gets loud. im guessing its a pump but i figured i would run it buy you guys and see if there is something im missing or didnt do . oh i never removed any thing during the head gasket change just unbolted it and moved it out of the way.

Does the steering box leak. Mine was leaking and I fattened up the PS fluid with Lucas stop leak. During the winter it was just too thick to flow in the frigid Northeast where I live and that shortened the life of my PS pump. It really started squealing and after a few days let loose in my driveway ( Fortunately ) Put a new pump in and am now using about 80% Valvoline synthetic PS fluid and 20% Lucas. The steering box still drips but I can live with that.
