I need to know what the secret to replacing this is.

I looked at it a while and there are no bolts or anything to remove.
I'm pretty sure I'm driving on the pins only.

Remove the bolts on both ends .. take a screwdriver and pry it open a bit. Take a vice grip and tighten it down to the rod and a good place to allow you to hit it with a mallet. I forget if you want to hit it tward the box or to the steering column, but if you spray it with wd40 and let it sit for a day you should have no problems. I have had to take this off twice doing two steering boxes..

Good luck

Hey I can contribute sometimes!

see the greasy end of that universal joint on the left side of the picture? thats the bolt you loosen and pry open with the screw driver. Anyway.. I know you said that you have a replacement rubber coupler but i think that you have to replace the whole unit...
