"clunking" noise in front door, drains battery?

Not sure if it is related, but the problem was noticed/started after I put on a TerraFirma 3" lift kit this past weekend. There is now a light "clunking" noise coming from the front drivers side door every 30 or so seconds. Sound comes from inside the door. It almost sounds like the door lock actuating, like trying to lock when it is already locked. It has become an issue, because now my battery is constantly draining and I am coming out of work and my battery is dead and I have to jump it if I leave the vehicle for any extended amount of time (few hours).

Any idea what this could be? Nothing out of the ordinary happened with the suspension install, so I am at a loss. Replaced the door lock actuator on that door last summer, and it functions properly with the key fob.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Derek

Only 2 things in the door that can cause a clunk would be the lock actuator or window motor assembly, can't say I have ever heard of it before.
How old is the battery, have you had the charging system tested at the local parts store, should be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts. If your battery has died, did you give it at least a 2 hour charge or just jump charge it?

Gotta think outside the box there Mike. He just put a lift on it. Derek, did you have the SLABS re-flashed for springs? Your air-bag pump is right under your door and it's trying to inflate bags that aren't there anymore. You can't defeat it until the computer is re-programmed so it will constantly drain your battery. Doesn't usually make the kind of noise your describing, but that's my bet. Mike, I'll eat my words if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't get email notification that anyone replied so just read your responses.

Turns out Bill is right! I was able to spend some more time tracing the sound last night and it's coming from a WABCO unit under the drivers side of the vehicle, which after some research I discovered is the air supply unit to the air suspension that is no longer there. Funny thing is, when I bought the Disco it already had the air suspension removed, but I didn't have this issue before I put the lift on. I never even gave a thought to the air supply unit.

So what does it take to get the the SLABS reflashed for no air suspension? Dealer thing or do I need an LR ECU tool?

Thanks again for all the help!

He never mentioned removing the SLS and yes, that is most likely the issue.
He could pull the fuse in the engine compartment for starters but yes, he will need to find a shop that has a scanner with Rover software that can turn off the SLS.

Pullling the fuse might stop the pump, but anytime you get over 10-15mph, the warning gong is going to go off non-stop. I guess you could just pull it when your parked until you re-flash it. Your choices for a re-program are the dealer or a LR indy shop with the right software. Call around, prices vary. The dealer here only charged me a half an hour labor for my wife's D2, but the local indy shop charged me an hour PLUS a hook-up fee for mine. WTF!?

The warning alarm did not go off when I removed my SLS, but a light on the dash remained until I had the system shut off.
